1. What inspired you to become a CrossFit Coach?

I have faced some health issues that made me realise the importance of staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This made me part of a community of like-minded individuals who support and motivate each other. The relationships I’ve formed through training and coaching continue to be invaluable.

2. How long have you been involved in CrossFit, both as a participant and as a coach?

Over a decade, but due to health and other issues, there have been long breaks and lots of starting again.

3. What certifications and qualifications do you hold related to CrossFit and fitness training?

  • Crossfit Courses: Level 1, Coaching the Aging Athlete, Spot the Flaw, Scaling,

    Dumbell, Judges.

  • Other Qualifications: Level 3 Sports Therapy, Level 3 Sports Massage, Diploma in

    Biomechanics, Level 1 Power Lifting.

4. Can you describe your coaching philosophy and approach to training athletes?

Just because your working hard, it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.

5. What do you believe are the most important qualities of a successful CrossFit coach?

Empathy and knowledge.

6. How do you customise workouts to accommodate different skill levels and abilities within a class?

I try to foster a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable and can listen to their bodies.

7. What strategies do you use to keep your athletes motivated and engaged?

A combination of empathy, encouragement and banter.

8. Can you share a memorable success story of an athlete you have coached?

Honestly, I don't have one memory, success to me is about boosting an athlete’s self-confidence and encouraging them to push just a little further.

9. How do you stay updated with the latest CrossFit techniques, trends, and research?

A love of learning something new, whilst trying to remember the old!

10. What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit and considering joining your class?

My classes are about having fun, engaging with fellow members, sharing tips, and encouraging each other. So, let’s embrace the journey together and celebrate your achievements small and large along the way. Oh and banter, I love banter.
